Kipepeo means “butterfly” in Swahili, a beautiful picture of transformation, of emerging from darkness into freedom.
And that’s exactly what God is doing through Denny and Sarah Reed, Aid The Way missionaries who have devoted over 15 years to ministry in East Africa.
Following God’s Call to Kilimanjaro
When the Reeds first answered God’s call to Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, they came with open hearts and willing hands. Through prayer and obedience, the Lord revealed something they couldn’t ignore: a deep and urgent need among men trapped in drug and alcohol addiction.
In a region with no Christ-centered rehabilitation options, men were falling through the cracks, caught in cycles of addiction with nowhere to turn for help that addressed both their physical struggle and their spiritual brokenness.
So Denny and Sarah did what missionaries do: they showed up.
They built relationships. They walked alongside men in their darkest moments. They brought them to church. They connected them to what few rehabilitation resources existed. And they prayed, believing that no one is beyond the redeeming love of God.
A Movement of Transformation Is Already Happening
What started as simple acts of faithfulness has grown into something powerful.
In 2024, the Reeds officially launched Kipepeo Ministries, a Christ-centered outreach rooted in the Gospel and the transforming power of Jesus. Over the past year alone, more than 30 men have given their lives to Jesus through this ministry. Many are now being discipled, connected to local churches, and supported as they rebuild their lives from the ground up.
Lives are changing. Families are being restored. Hope is taking root.
But God isn’t finished. In fact, He’s just getting started.
The Vision: Kilimanjaro’s First Christ-Centered Rehab Center
God has placed a clear, compelling vision on Denny and Sarah’s hearts: to establish the first inpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation center in the Kilimanjaro region, one that is deeply rooted in the Gospel and designed for lasting transformation.
Before flying home from their most recent trip, the Reeds walked the grounds of what could become Kipepeo Rehab Center: a two-acre property with a building ready to house 20–25 men. The structure is there. The vision is sharp. The local partnerships are strong.
They plan to launch a 3–6 month residential program, paired with intentional outpatient support to walk alongside men as they reintegrate into daily life. This isn’t a quick fix; it’s a sustainable, discipleship-centered model that addresses spiritual freedom, emotional healing, and practical restoration.
But here’s what’s still needed: funding to secure the property, prepare the space, staff the program, and resource it for long-term impact.
What It Means to Be an Aid The Way Missionary
When you support Denny and Sarah Reed through Aid The Way, you’re not just funding a project, you’re partnering with a missionary family doing kingdom work on the front lines.
Aid The Way connects generous donors like you directly to global ministry efforts that are making an eternal difference. We walk alongside missionaries like the Reeds, ensuring they have the resources, support, and partnership they need to follow God’s call with excellence and sustainability.
Supporting the Reeds means:
- Providing for their family as they serve in Tanzania
- Funding the launch and operations of Kipepeo Rehab Center
- Empowering a ministry that’s already seeing breakthrough
- Investing in transformed lives, restored families, and thriving communities
Denny will be traveling to Tanzania in February 2026 to prepare the center, strengthen partnerships, and lay critical groundwork. He’ll return multiple times throughout the year, and the Reed family plans to be on-site annually, staying present, connected, and deeply invested in the men and communities they serve.
Built on 15 Years of Faithful Partnership
One of the most powerful parts of this story? The Reeds aren’t starting from scratch.
They’ve walked alongside trusted local leaders in Tanzania for over 15 years. These aren’t surface-level relationships. They’re deep, tested, gospel-centered partnerships that provide accountability, cultural wisdom, and spiritual covering.
Kipepeo Rehab Center will be locally led and Christ-centered, designed not just to launch well, but to endure. It’s being built the right way, with patience, prayer, and the kind of relational foundation that honors both God and the community.
The Goal: $100,000 to Launch a Movement of Freedom
To bring this vision to life and fully support the Reed family in their mission, we need to raise $100,000. This will cover:
- Multi-year rent to provide long-term stability
- Facility preparation and essential improvements
- Staffing, program development, and operations
- Ongoing missionary support for the Reed family
But this isn’t just a budget. It’s a kingdom investment. It’s choosing to stand with missionaries who are going. It’s partnering in a work that will echo into eternity as men are set free, families are restored, and the Gospel advances in Tanzania.
